The name “Ampera” is an acronym of Amanat Penderitaan Rakyat, which means “the mandate of people’s suffering”. This name was given to commemorate the struggle of the people of Palembang against the Dutch colonialism.

Jembatan Ampera has a unique and beautiful design. The bridge is 1,177 meters long and 22 meters wide, with a height of 63 meters above the water level.
